If you run into problems that seem intractable, lobby to have legislation like the ACT.

http://www.legislation.act.gov…..efault.asp

Here it is possible to deal with all matters of approving easements and such to install sustainability infrastructure with a single, ordinary resolution so long as these things are covered in a sensible comprehensive plan. IE we can now get around the need to have multiple resolutions of different classes to cover each aspect.

Last year I enquired whether anyone had issues when installing solar electricity in particular the running of conduit over common property walls.  A couple of people referred me to some great websites including the Queensland government's Department of Planning and construction.

I cannot find the thread but I promised to provide the outcome. The property involved my in laws who live in a gated community on the Gold Coast comprising of over 100 units and townhouses.

Thank you so much for the advice that was provided. As usual there are some dramas with the executive committee. My in laws were able to maintain their conduits on the common property however their neighbour has to redirect his through the cavity including breaking a firewall between his property and the upstairs apartment. These units are in clusters of 4, 2 downstairs and 2 upstairs.

Despite me pointing out to the executive that this contravenes Queensland building codes they still ruled on this decision. I have now left it all for my in laws to worry about but at least their firewall will not be broken.

Thanks again for your assistance

Cheers
