From RN’s Blueprint for Living program this morning:

“Say you’re planning a visit to Tasmania this Summer. You look up a short-stay accommodation website, find a light-filled apartment in central Hobart (the owners of which are handily absent for the duration of your stay) and proceed to book. It’s a transaction that seems innocuous enough, but some say it’s keeping locals out of housing for good.”

The excellent (Aussie) Murray Cox of InsideAirbnb.com interviewed on how the commercial spread of short-term holiday letting has led to locals in Hobart having to sleep in tents in the Showground.
