Those grubby little Internet bots have been at it again, swamping our user lists with spam registrations. Why do they do it? Either to set up a security breach in unprotected websites (and don’t ask me why they do that) or for some unfathomable commercial reason.
Either way, I have spent the past week setting up new security filters while trying to weed out all the fake addresses that got through when we were converting the website.
Inevitably, some genuine users have been caught in the net. If you are one of them, my apologies.
If you find yourself on a form from Spam Stopper inviting you to apply, make sure whatever you type in the response contains the word JimmyT and I will know you are the real deal.
Failing that, or if you have any other concerns about logging in or registering, please send me a message to mail[at]flat-chat.com.au
(where [at] = @) and I will get you back on board. (See the stuff we have to do to defeat the bots and trolls?)
Apologies again for all the hassles but we have literally thousands of genuine users on this website and there’s no way I can remember everyone’s username.
