Hi, thanks very much if anyone has experienced the same.

We never had faulty TV reception and suddenly it’s missing sound and visual on a number of channels.  TV techie says antenna problem, not the TV set.

Wondering if it could be a matter of asking around if roof antenna gets a maintenance check now and then.  A long term resident kindly says a separate cable will be necessary; this can cost of course.

      Any insights appreciated, much obliged.

If replacing your antenna lead doesn’t fix it, then it is somewhere ‘upstream’. Have others had the same problem? If yes, then unlikely to be your set or its antenna lead. How extensive is your building’s cabling? There may be problems with the junction points or intermediate amplifiers. (In our building, failure of the power point serving an amplifier blacked most or all of us out; replacement fixed the problem.) There are many other possibilities, and you will have to go through a systematic process of elimination.

Based on recent experience if some channels work then the amplifier would be chief suspect.  If someone has been in the cavity recently then more so as unplugging it while in a tight/dark place may be easily done.
