I have recently applied for both sunscreens [facing west] and flyscreens for my ground floor unit. I have been denied both as they will interfere with the ‘aesthetics’ of the building. My application for both was denied and no guidelines were offered. The chairman of the OC committee is besotted with the architect who designed this complex. Belonging to a family of  architects [3 generations] I find this quite ludicrous, the architect – of no particular note – was employed by a developer and no doubt had all the usual cost restrictions placed on him. Result: a pleasing but mediocre building.

Having said that I do understand and agree with the concept of keeping the building looking as ‘organised and uniform’ as possible however I do wonder at the blanket denial of both flyscreens and sun screens as a health issue.

Surely one is entitled to the health benefits of both these additions.

I would welcome any advice or precedents on this subject.

      Thank you
