      Hi,

I’ve looked on the forum and couldn’t find an answer to my question. Appreciate any advice or if someone can point me to a post that covers this already

The lock on one of the doors to the fire exit from the building’s carpark is broken and so the carpark is accessible from the street without a key.

This allowed a thief to come into the carpark and steal my bike (pushbike, not motorbike) which was chained to the bike racks in the carpark (i.e. he cut the chain). The incident is captured on CCTV.

Would I be able to seek any kind of compensation for my bike? e.g. would it be covered by building insurance?

      Thanks a lot

The easiest way to discover this is to contact the strata insurer directly.  They may cover the full amount or the excess on your home and contents insurance.

        Or not …

But you can contact them directly to find out, as I said.
